Motorcycle Starter Solenoid Rapid Clicking

Motorcycle Starter Solenoid Rapid Clicking

I'm not too familiar with the later model bikes but if i were getting a clicking noise under the seat and the bike was not starting, i'd investigate the source of the noise. Bike won't start, new harley battery, and starter bike 2006 flhx street glide, all i get is a clicking noise from solenoid under seat i'm not too familiar with the later model bikes but if i were getting a clicking noise under the seat and the bike was not starting, i'd investigate the source of the noise.

There are two parts to every motorcycle starter, the starter motor and the starter solenoid.

Motorcycle starter solenoid rapid clicking. If it still clicks locate the solenoid (follow the red wire from the battery to the small cylinder part) that's your solenoid, grab a wrench and put it in between the 2 posts on the solenoid, this will bypass the solenoid and if the starter / battery is. The lack of power can be caused by a low battery, by corroded or loose connections in the battery cable, or by a damaged positive (red) cable from the battery. Any other things that is could be?

The lack of power can be caused by a low battery, by corroded or loose connections in the battery cable, or by a damaged positive (red) cable from the battery. If a starter solenoid receives insufficient power from the battery, it will fail to start the motor, and may produce a rapid clicking sound. If a starter solenoid receives insufficient power from the battery, it will fail to start the motor, and may produce a rapid clicking sound.

The buzzing or rapid clicking sound you hear is your starter solenoid. The lack of power can be caused by a low battery, by corroded or loose connections in the battery cable, or by a damaged positive (red) cable from the battery. To me it sounds like the battery isn't putting out enough power.

Signs of a bad starter solenoid. You need to have at least 12.2 volts, or a 50% charge, to get the motorcycle started. The third most common but less likely reason the motorcycle is clicking could be due to a seized engine.

The first and most common reason is because of a dead battery. Either way, bought a brand new battery today and it's still doing it. If it’s any lower than that, you likely won’t be able to get it started at all, thus you hear the clicking sound.

Symptoms of a bad motorcycle starter may include the motorcycle not being able to start at all, the motorcycle only starting intermittently, hearing the starter running even when the engine has already started, and being able to hear a strange clicking sound from the starter. If a starter solenoid receives insufficient power from the battery, it will fail to start the motor, and may produce a rapid clicking sound. When you hit the start button on your handlebar it sends voltage to your solenoid.

What are the signs of a bad starter on a motorcycle? The starter draws a lot more power than your lights do. Well its either a low/ bad battery, a solenoid or your starter.

Or it can be a case of decreased electrical conductivity due to corrosion, dirt, and breakages. Instead i just heard rapid clicking sound. Tried jumping bike with my truck.

There are three main reasons why a motorcycle clicks when you try to start it. Look at the starter from the right hand side of your bike. Consider these possible signs of a failing or bad starter solenoid when you turn the key:

I heard if it's rapid clicking it's the battery, but this is just one click. If a starter solenoid receives insufficient power from the battery, it will fail to start the motor, and may produce a rapid clicking sound. It has the power to engage the solenoid but it cant hold it in place (it takes more power to hold the solenoid then to engage it).

Thought it was starter or solenoid. Check to see if the motor was seized, it was not. It's possible that it is a starter relay that engages the solenoid that is an integral part of the starter.

The clicking sound is caused by the solenoid and starter motor gear(s) continuously trying, and failing to make a connection with the corresponding gears on the engine. Best of luck, and let us know if your solenoid rebuild doesn't do the trick. Just because your lights are bright it doesn't mean that the battery is fully charged.

The solenoid has a small electromagnet that flips a switch to send battery power to your starter. While trying to start it tap the starter with the handle of a screwdriver. Rapid clicking noises when trying to start a car usually means the battery is dead, or has too little stored energy to fully engage the starter motor.

A bad ground will also do what you're describing. When trying to start while hooked u to started vehicle, head light was strong implying it should start, but not the case. The lack of power can be caused by a low battery, by corroded or loose connections in the battery cable, or by a damaged positive (red) cable from the battery.

The starter solenoid makes a clicking sound and moves a little, but the starter does not rotate. Only thing i can think of is it's either the solenoid or starter. The second reason could be due to a bad starter.

The solenoid will keep clicking like this in rapid succession until you either release the starter button, or the battery becomes so flat that it will no longer energise the solenoid at all. Learned from harley dealer to never jump bike with vehicle running.
